MedSpan was a Connecticut-based health maintenance organization providing managed healthcare services to the small commercial market and the Medicare risk market, which is both large and underpenetrated. MedSpan joined with hospitals and providers on both a contractual and an investment basis to strengthen its competitive position. The company was sold to Oxford Health Plans, Inc. in 2002.
